Just upgraded to 2.9 via automatic upgrade and already having two issues:

    1) Only sidebar 1 will open. No matter what theme I use (I have several uploaded to the site for testing purposes) I can only open Sidebar 1. ANY other sidebars refuse to open so I can put widgets in them.

    2) The ability to upgrade all my plugins simultaneously, as shown in the upgrade video, does not seem to exist. The admin panel looks exactly like 2.8.6.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

@ esmi – just now, yeah – when I reactivated a guestbook plug in, it reproduced the error … grrrrr

Actually, that just fixed the sidebar lock up, I am still not getting the ability to upgrade all my plug-ins simultaneously.

I have to back up EternalSkyChaz on the sidebar issue. My right sidebars are gone. That includes the right sidebar via the blog, or the right column of panels under the logged in admin panel.

Some java or script like actions were stopped (not responding) that included the open / close arrows on the Dashboard won’t respond. I can open any section by clicking on it, but not via the open close options.

I also cannot upload plugins, but I’m not sure that’s a WP issue or new server issue but in case anyone else has encountered that, I thought I’d toss that in too.

Sorry, but before upgrading, you should really verify if the plugins you are using are already availble for the WP version that you want to install. Plugin authors need time to follow the WP upgrades.

No automatic plugin upgrade can speed that proces up.

henkholland – Shouldn’t there still be all the radio buttons or dropdown menus in place, even if there are no plug-ins to upgrade yet?

    Hi EternalSkyChaz,

I am not familiar with the screen you are refering to with the radio buttons and you already know that you can upgrade them one by one.

Henkholland – watch the video that WP has created about the upgrade.

Here are a compilation of issues I am experiencing:

It’s fickle as to which browser 2.9 works with. But the fickle is not consistent. (This may sound odd, but I can do whatever I want in the mornings, but as the day progresses, I start losing functionality in different browsers.)

Dashboard panels on the right side sometimes don’t appear. (Fickle related! They do in the mornings, but as the day progresses, they stop showing up.)

Saving a post sometimes leads to a blank page. The posts save properly and show up on the blog as expected, I just receive the blank page for feedback.

Images aren’t loading centered, as initially requested when uploading. I can fix the alignment after the fact.

That’s my simple 2 cents on my experiece.

After upgrading to 2.9 I cannot update options in Plugins, and cannot open sidebar widgets to change or remove text and cannot add any new widgets to the side bar. When I go into my admin dashboard, at the bottom of the page it say “Done, but with errors on page. I deactived all plugins and reactive it still the same.

After upgrading to 2.9 my qtranslate wouldn’t work. I installed the older version manually but it still tells me it’s not compatible with qtranlsate and i’m unable to even access the html version of my posts. how do i make sur the version 2.8.6 is runnig correctly and works with my plugin?

As Mr. Scott said, “The more they over-think the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.”
