• Does anyone have a recommendation whether to install 2.9 or 2.8.6? Is 2.8.6 likely to have less bugs at this point? Thanks in advance!

  • Latest download is WP 2.9.1 – https://www.ads-software.com/download/
Recommend using latest version for any new install.

I am aware of 2.9.1 but not sure how well it is working at this point since its new… I read some people are uninstalling it and downgrading to other versions… just curious which version is safest bet at this time…

2.9.1. I’ve not had any problems with it on 10 or more different sites. Installing anything less than the latest version could leave you more vulnerable to hacking.

    Thank you Esmi!

The people with problems with 2.9 are typically having minor plugin issues. After they deactivate their plugins, the upgrade is smooth. Then they reactivate them one at a time to see which is the culprit.

That said, that’s happening less and less now that plugins had a chance to “catch up” with 2.9. Remember, 2.9 isn’t just adding a handful of new features but also provides a hundreds of bug fixes.

Hi Gabeyoung. If I do upgrade, how likely or unlikely am I to loose any of what was on my site..? Not sure how it works and concerned whether anything would get lost. Is an upgrade usually trouble free..? Thanks…

Hi I have a WordPress site. From that site I copied everything such as theme, plugins, upload dir, database and created a new site. New site was working fine. After that I got new WordPress 2.9.1 available. Then I upgraded WordPress version from the admin panel of my main(parent) site and copied everything to my new site like before. My new site is showing fine except the pages. Only the pages are not showing.

Here is the URL of my main(parent) site
    https://artist-demo.fullyloadedwp.com/show-times/

Here is the URL of my copied(new) site
    https://random.fullyloadedwp.com/show-times/

    Any idea?

@beginner8: if you backup your database before you start any backups, your data should be preserved and can be re-inserted if anything does go horribly wrong.

@mrpaul: Please post a new topic.

@beginner8 – as esmi mentioned, you can do a backup of your data. It’s very unlikely you’ll have a problem but it’s the safe thing to do just in case. It’s a practice you’ll want to do every once in a while anyway.
