• I have installed a virgin copy of 2.9.1 on Apache 2/MySQL 5 (Appserv) Windows 2003 server and when I go to write a new post, the text is white on a white background in the Visual tab, and the upload buttons don’t work. Any ideas?

  • Any plugins loaded? Are you using the default theme? Have you tried re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

No plugins. Default theme. Absolutely virgin install. Tried it twice.

I’m using Firefox 3.5.7 on Mac OSX.

Fresh copies downloaded twice, wiping directory and reinstalling, including the database.

Sounds like some sort of path issue

    Path?? What do you mean?

The text is white on a white background. If I select it, I can see it. Are you suggesting it can’t find CSS? The rest of the site looks perfect. I tested in on XP FF 3.6 – same problem.

Are you suggesting it can’t find CSS?

Yes – the admin CSS and some of the scripts.

Why would that be? It’s a virgin install. It’s running on port 8080 – could that be a problem?

I’ve checked, and I can see all the CSS that’s referenced in the page header. Don’t think it’s that…

Someone else reported a similar problem, and they got round it by disabling some addin. I don’t have any (the vanilla install comes with two I think and I tried disabling them).

Please help folks – something odd is going on.

I still have the problem… white text on a white background, can’t actually write a post. Virgin install – can anyone please help?

I love WP, and with the iPhone app it does everything I need. But if I can’t actually write a post I’ll have to use Textpattern or something else.

I have the same problem. In addition cannot drag widgets. Posts can however be seen if even if the text cannot

I’ve exactly the same problem as craigmckay, in addition when I click on the “Screen Options” on the top right corner, nothing happened. This is same to the “Incoming Links”, “Plugins”, “WordPress Development Blog” and “Other WordPress News” section bellow. All the content display with the status “Loading…”

For your all information, this is fresh installation as well and the theme used are the default theme provided as it is.

Well, I’ve test on another web server & it seems to work fine. I guess it required to work on specific PHP version…

    Hope this help!

Yes – the admin CSS and some of the scripts.

I have the exact same problem as craigmckay. I work around it by not using the Visual editor for now. But not being able to use media attachments makes it a weak tool.

I’ve tried everything mentioned but looking at the admin CSS and scripts. Where are they and what would change the path in them? This site worked fine before the upgrade (rolling back didn’t help either)

Solved the problem by installing the Dean’s FCKEditor For WordPress plug in. this replaces the Word Press editor which seemed to be the root cause of the problem.
