• Hi,

I want to install the minimum number of files for my WP install, so that it doesn’t take up too much space on my server. For example, I can delete the classic and default themes in favour of a theme that I’ve selected. Also, perhaps I can get rid of the languages instead of English as I expect only English speaking will want to view it.

In short, which are the most ESSENTIAL files I need to keep WP working.

At the moment the default WP install is about 5mb (version 2.8.2), but then when I use a different free theme the size bumps up to over 10mb which is far too much for the limited space on my server.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I’d suggest keeping the default and classic theme but customising the latter rather than installing a new theme.

    Thanks esmi,

I discovered that the new theme I installed had a couple of PSD files which took up about 3mb of space, so these didn’t need to be uploaded onto the server.

But, expect for the theme files, are you saying that every file in the WP install is necessary, and not a single one can be deleted (or not uploaded to the server)?

    Thanks
