    Hello,
I did a restore on my site without first turning 2FA off. Now I can’t use my codes to login. I restored a backup from 7 months ago and I don’t believe I have any downloaded codes from back then if that’s how it works. What can I do to get into my site??? This has me really worried!
    TIA

Hi @pjens4962, thanks for getting in touch!

If you don’t have the backup codes stored in a password manager, you can get back into your site by renaming your /wp-content/plugins/wordfence plugin folder to “wordfence_bak” and logging into your site using your username/password combination only. You can then rename the folder back to “wordfence” again afterwards. Now, you will need to reconfigure 2FA in your Wordfence Login Security settings so that you have up-to-date codes.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you so much Peter!! I was able to get back in late last night through my managed WP host. I appreciate your feedback and I will make note of this if it should occur again in the future!! Thanks again!
