• I’ve lost access to to my account (.com) due to 2FA SMS messages not being received to my designated mobile number in Malaysia. I’ve changed passwords but can’t go any further without 2FA codes. I’ve looked for the original back-up codes but these are lost. I can’t disable 2FA without logging in. I’ve checked with my telecom provider but they can’t see any reason for 2FA codes not to be arriving.
I’ve had to create this ‘new’ account just to post my query!

  • What do you mean by “.com”? Are you referring to the service at wordpress.COM?

    Hi threadi,
    yes to wordpress.com
I’ve had an account there for many years to access comments & discussion from other folks websites & blogs under WordPress. I assume I’ve been receiving 2FA in the past

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and www.ads-software.com are two different entities: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/difference-between-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com/

Due to the differences between the various “types” of WordPress offered at wordpress.com and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you should probably ask WordPress.com support instead: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/

I would need to create a new account just to post my problem. Surely 2FA works the same for both flavors of WordPress?

No, it’s different for both platforms.

You want access to your wordpress.COM account. The 2FA there is predefined by their systems. With an individual installation with the package from www.ads-software.com, you can choose between different plugins with which you want to secure your admin area with 2FA.

Therefore again: to clarify your request you have to contact the above mentioned support of wordpress.COM. They cannot help you here.
