We are using your plugin mainly for 2FA on multiple sites. Emails are always sent via the Post SMTP plugin either via normal SMTP or for some clients via their Office 365 Connector.

On this particular website we use the connector and while the Post SMTP test mail, a sent webform and the password reset mails all go through fine, your 2FA login code email always fails to send with the error 5.7.64 TenantAttribution; Relay Access Denied [ValidationStatus of ” is EmptyCertificate].

Do you have any idea what could cause this? Does your plugin send out these mails via some custom, strange method?

Hi @puregraphx, glad you’ve reached out!

Solid Security uses the native WordPress?wp_mail()?function to send the emails, essentially relying on the same method as the other emails (ex. Post SMTP).

It looks like the Office 365 server is rejecting the 2FA emails. Have you configures some sort of email forwarding? If so, can you confirm that the email is verified for your domain??

The error message also talks about a “certificate”. Can you review your certificate chain configuration for your account? Please check this article for further troubleshooting.

Let us know what you can find.

Looks like it might have been a security setting in O365 when sender and recipient were same.
