2FA not working with google authenticator

    I can activate google authenticator in “Two-Factor Authentication” page for one account. It also pops up “2FA cpde” page after filled in correct account name and password in login page. However, after filled in correct code generated by google authenticator, nothing happened. It will send request to admin-ajax.php and get correct token, but it seems the backend verification didn’t process.

  • I have the same issue. Nothing happens after filling in the Authenticator code. There seems to be no reaction after clicking on “Log in”. After some time, or clicks, it says “Error: Incorrect username and password”.

    So then, I am unable to access the Admin…

    Hi Guys, I am having a problem with 2FA also.

    When I try login from the backend login page I get “ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again”.

    Then if I go to my website login page, login on the frontend with error.
    Return to the backend login and refresh the page, log in with the correct detail 2FA comes up and works when I put in the codes.
    (I’m using Authy 2FA, much better than Google Authenticator)

    Thanks for reporting this, and my apologies for the delayed response.

    Can you please try entering your 2fa code after your password and let me know if it helps?

    Also, if you check the browser console do you see any errors?

    Can you please start a new thread? Though it seems similar I believe it’s different.

    Can you check for a theme and plugin conflict? More specifically I’d pay special attention with that is creating your frontend login form.
