    Hello,

I have updated Woocommerce from 3.5.3 to 3.5.4 on a WordPress 5.0.3 installation. Everything worked as always and I updated my templates – however, the built-in database update tool just won’t do its job.

After making a backup of the database, I clicked on “Start database update now” and waited a bunch. After a while, the message stating that the database is being upgraded in the background disappeared and the “Start update now” button re-appeared. Every time I start the update, it goes back to its original state (the WooCommerce status page says that the database is still on version 3.5.3), even if I force complete the upgrade or force start it from Status > Tools.

The WooCommerce logs read as follows:

    2019-01-22T10:45:29+00:00 INFO Queuing 3.5.4 - wc_update_354_modify_shop_manager_caps

WordPress itself does not log any errors in its debug.log.

Any help or pointers are appreciated.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

Please tell me if you have had any resolution in this matter. Also, please open your site dashboard and navigate to:

WooCommerce → Status → Tools tab → Update Database

This should also run a database update if your site still requires it. It will update to the latest version for your version of WooCommerce. This means if you are still using v3.5.4 then it will update it to that version.

Be advised, since your posting WooCommerce has updated to version 3.5.7. I recommend you update to that version to see if this resolves the issue you are having. Please let me know how this works out for you.

    Thanks!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Thanks~

The 3.5.4 update never finished database upgrading, but the recent 3.6.1 update was able to update the database to its own new structure.
