• I attempted (3) installs of WordPress 3.9.1. (2) auto-installs with Softaculous and (1) manual install.
All installs were successful. However, the problem is admin login is being rejected with all installs.

There is no admin login page just a popup with the following:”A username and password are being requested by https://www.xxdomain.com. The site says: “WordPress administrator CAPTCHA. Enter username: e7o1h7 Password: The result of math 11+9”

WordPress.com support offered a few working solutions but all failed including an emergency ‘change my password’ php script, which I deleted after use.

Any suggestions, or directing me to a working solution is most welcome.

  • What you’re seeing there is a HTTP authentication request – and that’s not the same as your WordPress site login.

You’ll need to contact your hosting company about this as it’s a measure that a lot of hosts have put in place to block access to the WordPress login page after some very serious hacker bot attacks. Only your hosting company can tell you what you need to enter for this request.

Now that really makes me feel ‘Duh’. Many thanks for making that clear. The only real issue was me not seeing that.

Many thanks for clearing this up. I’m now logged in… :-),

    This issue is RESOLVED!
