    Hello, excuse my English but I am Italian, I am very happy to ‘idea to create a social network of my property, I would first like to congratulate and thank all those who conceived and developed this wonderful application and those in otherwise contribute to ‘better than this.

    I am writing to ask you some questions on ‘Setup BuddyPress because I am very confused about this: I would first like to ask you if you need to install WordPress MU wordpress or just normal? Second thing: I did not understand what it means to activate the permalinks are activated and if so how?

    let me answer you question one by one.
    first about wordpress MU
    1. to install buddypress you first need to install wordpress 3.1 and then activate multisite option in that.this can be done by using a plugin or even by writting a single line of code in config file
    2.regarding permalinks. when you install wordpress, the normal link of the pages will look like this
    https://www.yourdomain.com/?page=6
    for buddypress you need to change this to SEO friendly link something like this
    https://www.yourdomain.com/aboutus

    to do this. you need ot log in to admin panel and then click on permalink section and change the setting.

    thirdly about the server(hosting)
    different provider(hosting server) gives you different option for hosting.
    to decide which plan is suitable for you.. you need to consider few points
    like how many visitor you expect in a month.
    how big your site will be means how many extra functionality you will be giving on the site

    Incorrect about #1, Alvaro.

    BuddyPress DOES NOT REQUIRED MULTISITE. Forget that advice ?? You can install BuddyPress on WordPress Single.

    1. Ipstenu is correct. I have buddypress without multisite on one of my sites.

    3. In almost every case, you can easily get away with a shared host until you outgrow it.

    I finally opened socialnetwork, but I have a problem with the links not working here is the link to the site: https://www.cagliarifriends.altervista.org/
    if you try to click (for example, by submitting to create an account. or all the activities present in the head) do not work give a 404 error.

    Thanks again for your many responses.
    The problem with the link I solved it by reinstalling from scratch blog.
    I would however two other questions: I wonder if there is any plugin to index your site (or at least make it popular to do so that it appears on google)?
    Secondly, let me know if you can make money with your site?
    I heard a lot about google adwords, but I did not understand very well how to install it on my site?
