30 minute delay from paypal payment to email link delivery

    Hi,
    For the last month i’ve used your Easy Digital Downloads plugin without any problem, and it’s worked perfectly. Unfortunately, for the last two purchases, there appears to have been a delay between the Paypal notification/transaction and the email with the download link being delivered. The result being irate emails from the customer.

    The last email took upto 30 minutes to arrive and I’m completely in the dark as to why.
    (but it did get delivered)
    If you have any ideas about what is causing the delay or how I can speed it up, I’d greatly appreciate it.

    Hi Jeff,

    Unfortunately, that delay is caused by PayPal and is not a variable that we can control.

    Occasionally PayPal has issues with their IPN system that results in delays in purchases getting marked as Completed.

    Many thanks for getting back to me so soon.

    I’m glad that I can rule out your plugin! I’ll fire off a query to PayPal because somebody as big as they are, really shouldn’t be proud of a system that is that inconsistent.
