    Hi,

Ever since the last update a couple of days ago, it seems like the percentage calculations for transition words is off. I posted an article yesterday that seems to contain so many transition words, that it is awkward to read. Yet the % of transition words calculation is showing at only 22%.

Also, there is a red bullet stating that there is one subheading that contains more than 300 words, and this is not the case. I have put the text after each subheading through a word counter and each is less than 300 words. Has anyone else noticed these issues since the last update?

Have to say, I am really not liking this update. I don’t want to touch any of my existing posts, which are all green bulleted, as I am afraid to mess them up.

6 days and counting with this annoying error.

    Anyone?

    Hi,

You identified several issues. We have responded to them below.

    A. I posted an article yesterday that seems to contain so many transition words, that it is awkward to read.
While we are not what the exact issue you are having is, we do know it is OK if not all dots are green. It makes no sense to add transition words when you know doing so makes for a poor user experience for your audience. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/want-green-bullet-wp-seo/

B.it seems like the percentage calculations for transition words is off.
We would like some more information.

    1. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v11.3? If you update, does the issue resolve?

    2. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.2.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    3. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    4. Are you using a pagebuilder like WPBakery, Elementor, SiteOrigin or Divi etc. to create pages?

    5. Can you provide a link to the page?

    C. Also, there is a red bullet stating that there is one subheading that contains more than 300 words, and this is not the case.
Same as in B, but do you know if you added a line break? You can check by going to the HTML version of the post/page and looking for arrows as shown below

Yes, but before I updated to the latest version, all of my posts were green-bulletted. Those same posts are now orange bulletted, although nothing in the posts themselves has changed. Here is an example of one of the articles that was fine before, but now is orange bulletted for readability: https://bit.ly/2ZsMyrG

This article has 2 errors: one of the sections has more than 300 words, and that there are not enough transition words. It is telling me that there are 9.9% transition words in the article. I don’t know what the percentage is, but it was fine before the update, and nothing has changed.

Here is a link to a newer article: https://bit.ly/2XOqxmL I gave up trying to make the transition word error go away, so it is still orange bulletted. Please tell me if it makes sense to you that there are only 23% transition words here. This article also has an error that there are more than 300 words in a section.

B.it seems like the percentage calculations for transition words is off.
We would like some more information.

    1. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v11.3? If you update, does the issue resolve? I am using 11.4 on this particular site.

    2. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.2.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/. I am using WP 5.2.1, yes, and all my other plugins are up to date

    3. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated? Yes

    4. Are you using a pagebuilder like WPBakery, Elementor, SiteOrigin or Divi etc. to create pages? No. I make it a point to always use the classic builder

    5. Can you provide a link to the page?As above

    C. Also, there is a red bullet stating that there is one subheading that contains more than 300 words, and this is not the case.
Same as in B, but do you know if you added a line break? You can check by going to the HTML version of the post/page and looking for arrows as shown below

Are you saying that I should put a line break between sections? I have never entered them manually before, but I don’t see any in the code. Should I be adding them? Thanks!

You identified several issues. We have responded to them below.

    A. Yes, but before I updated to the latest version, all of my posts were green-bulletted. Those same posts are now orange bulletted, although nothing in the posts themselves has changed.
We did change the calculation in the plugin. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-10-0/. We are not sure what version you had before you updated but v10.0 and greater have the new analysis.

    B. This article has 2 errors: one of the sections has more than 300 words, and that there are not enough transition words.

We suggest trying to resolve the issue. If you add more transition words does it resolve? Note, you may need to consider adding subheadings as the bolded text on this page: https://birdbathsforsale.com/large-bird-cages-for-parakeets/ are not headings…just bolded text. You may want to turn them into an h2. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/subheading-distribution-check/.

Same with transition words. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/academy/seo-copywriting-training/transition-words

Please try resolving those warnings on the pages using the guides above and reducing the amount of text per section.

    C. Are you saying that I should put a line break between sections? I have never entered them manually before, but I don’t see any in the code. Should I be adding them?

No, you do not need to add them. We have an open issue related to line breaks which causes issues with the analysis. As you do not have this, we suspect Yoast is working as expected and is probably the result of our calculation changes
