    Yes, I use 2.9.6 and WP 4.1 with URL rewrite

    Does this new item in FAQ, copied below, help?

    qTranslate-X redirects to a canonical URL before rendering a page. Canonical URL is defined based on options “Site Address (URL)” and “WordPress Address (URL)” from page /wp-admin/options-general.php, option “URL Modification Mode” from /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=qtranslate-x.

    If .htaccess then redirects to a different URL, an infinite redirection loop may occur, which can be fixed after proper editing of .htaccess file. In most cases, the default .htaccess from hosting service provider works correctly.
