• I’m running a WordPress (3.8.1) / WooCommerce (2.0.20) site that is secured with Better WP Security version 3.6.3.

I’ve noticed that when running website speed tests, I am getting a 302 redirect error then a 404 error on one file within the wp-admin/images folder called wpspin_light.gif.

If I deactivate the Better WP Security plugin, and re-run the website speed test, the page loads as normal, but as soon as the plugin is activated again, the 302 -> 404 error immediately returns.

I’ve tried changing some of the settings in the plugins ‘tweaks’ tab to try and eliminate this issue, and also set SSL to ‘off’ but have had little luck so far. Could anyone advise which setting could be causing this conflict or how to resolve.

Ideally I want to continue using Better WP Security as it’s the only security plugin I’ve found that changes the table prefix and hides the back-end options, and other than this slight issue, it has worked perfectly so far.

    Thanks in advance, Draskers.

    Hi,

For those interested, here’s a quick update into this issue.

I’ve narrowed the problem down to the ‘hide back end’ option – when turned off, the site produces no 302 or 404 errors, however as soon as the hide back end option is activated, I get 302 redirect errors quickly followed by a 404 not found error for a file in the ‘wp-admin/images’ folder.

Currently I will leave the ‘hide back end’ option inactive so that there are no issues with my site, but I would love to be able to hide the back end for the obvious hack prevention reasons – anyone know of a workaround for this issue?

    Thanks, Draskers
