Hi, I have just upgraded to 3.02 and it has decided to wipe over my mofified copy of twentyten theme, i have had to reupload all my files, luckily i had them all backed up. WordPress has never done this before and it could have warned me.

My main problem is that the plugin qTranslate now no longer works, any idea what could have caused this?

Ive never had a problem upgrading WordPress and am really annoyed, I was just about to hand the site over to the client.

Is there anyway of downgrading WordPress?

    thanks

WordPress has never done this before and it could have warned me.

WP has always included updates for the default theme (Twenty Ten since WP 3.0) which means that any customisations to that theme will be lost. If you browse the forums, you’ll see that warnings have been posted on numerous occasions.

That’s a question that might be better asked of the plugin’s developers. Right now, it sounds like it’s incompatible.

Right, ive just done the same thing as above, but dont have backups. neither do my web hosts.

Does this mean there is absolutely no way of restoring my files?

@jaime – What you could do is to rename the theme and change the directory name. That should stop the updating.

Hi, I have many wordpress installations where I just modify the default theme and have never had this problem, however from now on I will make sure to always use a different name for my themes.

Regarding the plugin, I will just wait till they update it, in the meantime I downgraded to 3.01.

thanks for all your help guys.

This is not new behaviour. WP has always replaced the default theme on updating, unless it was renamed/moved to a new dir, or you did a manual update leaving the wp-content untouched.

I did the upgrade to 3.02 and seem to now have problems with my categories. There now all gone! So I went back and added them again. And same thing happens they vanish few mins later. So I try a third time and now it says,
“A term with the name provided already exists with this parent.”
but still it shows no categories. Also it put all post under Uncategorized. And that category doesn’t show up either.
anyone know a fix on this?
