I just upgraded to 3.1 and beyond now seeing the admin bar on front end, I’m not seeing any of the reported new features. No new linking interface or post formats or blue admin…. Am I missing something?

Linking interface is in the visual post editor.

Post formats requires that your theme supports it.

Blue admin is an option, look on your Users->Your Profile page.

I am using the Visual editor (as opposed to HTML) the linking pop-up is exactly the same as before.

Fair enough – what do I need to add to the functions.php file to support the new formats?

    Yes, I see that, thanks

Linking in Visual post editor now looks like this:

If you’re not seeing it, try clearing your browser cache.

More info on how to add Post Formats to your theme is here:

You’ll need to know CSS and theming to make proper use of them though.

Interesting. The sites I updated yesterday are now finally showing the new Link screen. The one I updated today is still not, despite clearing the cache or using a browser that has never been logged in before.
The only thing that is different is a complete re-boot of my machine and time.

    Thanks for your help Otto.

I’d like to update this, it appears that it’s the TinyMCE Advanced plugin that is causing the new Linking screen to not work. Once that is disabled, it does work.
