My host has completely died, and now I’m looking for another host that let me use PHP and CGI scripts. The only problem is that I can only find a decent site that uses PHP but does not have a cgi-bin. Is it possible to import my greymatter files without the use of a cgi-bin, or at least create a folder with that name?

Also, can someone tell me where to download WordPress version 1.2? I can only find 1.5, and the greymatter import script doesn’t work.

I tried importing it when my host used to be alive, and I searched around the forum, and it was recommended that I install 1.2 first and then upgrade… I did a google search, but all the links are to 1.5.

But this problem isn’t as serious as the importing without a cgi-bin.

So… Is it possible to import my greymatter files without the use of a cgi-bin? Can I just make a folder with that name and hope it imports? I’m having trouble looking for a decent (free) host that has both PHP and a cgi-bin.

Try the 1.5.1 version. If that doesn’t work, report a bug and include any error messages. A zip archive of your GM files and entries would be really helpful.

The importer doesn’t care about cgi-bin. Just point it to the directories containg your GM files and your GM entries. They can be anywhere.

Ok, then I might as well try importing it then. If it doesn’t work, then I’ll do something about a zip archive of my files and entries.

I was trying to figure out how to import my GM posts, but I never did, so I just didn’t import them.

Hmm, Codex mentions that it is broken yet there are no bug reports in Mosquito. Grrr. The support thread linked to in codex helps. I went about modernizing the importer but need someone’s greymatter data to do some testing. If you are brave, try out this version.

has anyone had any success so far with the importer? I’m in the process of switching from Greymatter and am not sure how brave I am.
