• Well, I upgraded one of my other sites (very basic, 0 posts, just a few pages) successfully to 3.2 so i thought hey I’ll upgrade my other site no problem. I of course didn’t back up because the other site worked fine. It updated in like 3 seconds and said done, and I clicked the link to go to my site and a white screen. I panicked and tried CTRL+F5 it didn’t help. Luckily i tried with a different browser, and the site loaded fine. The site won’t load if I’m logged in, and when I access wp-login.php or wp-admin.php i get a 500 server error.
this is a really big problem and please please PLEASE help me!!!

Even worse: some posts give a 500 error as well. Please help me. I’m really freaked out right now

Well, there’s your first mistake. I’ve just upgraded over 10 sites without a problem but I ran a db backup before upgrading on every one just in case.
    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

did not work:- re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.
did not work:- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

I would like to know how to re-run the upgrade manually. thanks.

Oh dear… that’s way complicated. I’ll try it tonight.

    Hi,

I recently upgraded to WordPress 3.2 and now I can’t add tags to my posts or even do quick edits.

I already tried deactivating all plugins and this still didn’t work ??

Does anyone know why or can help me with this? Thanks!

Try rolling back to WP 3.1.2

I had the same issue and got it fixed that way.

Apparently there are new PHP and MySQL requirements, so make sure you meet those before attempting to upgrade.

Minimum requirements for WordPress 3.2. are PHP version 5.2.4 and MySQL version 5.0

Thank you for the advice. How do I roll bacK?

PS: according to cPanel this is my PHP version: 5.2.14

Oops one last thing: if I get my host to upgrade PHP then will the issue fix itself?

    PHP version: 5.2.14 won’t do.

First download WordPress 3.1.2 from this link:
    https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/

Unzip and upload by FTP, replacing all WordPress 3.2 files,
except of course your theme if it is a custom one.

Do not delete wp-config.php either (it does not exist in the package you are uploading, so you won’t be overwriting it)

Of course, if you get your host to upgrade PHP to version 5.2.4 obviously the issue will go away, although you might have to reinstall WordPress 3.2

Give it a try, nothing to lose

That’s the way to go anyway, and you’ll have to do it sooner or later

Thanks I’m trying to upload 3.1.2. Do I overwrite the wp-content folder?
