3.3 – Cannot add new Pages, Posts, Menus

  • I upgraded to 3.3 earlier today.
    I understand there have been lots of similar issues.

    I can update any existing pages and this is what the options on the right look like:

    I cannot create new Pages or Posts or add more items to the menus.
    When trying to create a new post the options on the right look like this:

    The “parent” attribute isn’t even there.
    When I press Submit for Review (logged in as admin) I get a page with a title that says “WordPress Failure Notice” and the page says: “Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again.”

    I tried disabling all plugins, changing to the default theme, manually installing, emptying cache. I even installed to a new directory on the server and pointed the domain there (so no plugins or themes other than the default).

    None of that helped. I’m assuming that because I didn’t change the database, then the changes made by the update are causing this.

    I will wait to see if there is an update tomorrow, if not, I will try starting again from scratch, but with a totally new database as well. I’ll just have to export the posts and begin from scratch if it isn’t fixed.

    Any ideas of what else might be causing this that I could try?

    Have you try reinstall the wordpress? (Dashboard -> Update)

    Yes, i’ve done that, but I just made it work deactivating all plugins and activating them again ??

    I found my problem by doing a whole new install and adding my plugins one at a time.
    I use Formidable Pro and it’s add-ons. The add-on: Formidable Locations changes something in the database that makes adding new pages, posts, menu items etc not function.
    Removing the forms it makes doesn’t fix it. Deactivating it doesn’t fix it. Deleting it doesn’t fix it.
    I have to start over once again because I don’t know exactly what it changes.

    *update* – even dropping the tables in the database doesn’t fix whatever it changes.

    Speaking with Stephanie at Formidable Pro, she helped me discover that it was causing my database to become too large for its allotted limit.

    I assume, because I haven’t asked the host yet, that going over caused some of the existing table entries to be dropped somehow because the correct functions do not come back once the added plugin data and tables are removed.

    3.3 is working for me now on a clean directory and install with Formidable Pro and all of the addons except for Locations. I’m okay with that.

    So I’ll mark this as Resolved.
