I’m tearing my hair out after the wordpress update has removed some of my functionality (but not all).

I updated to 3.4.1 on 3 different wordpress sites

    guyandben.com – perfect, no problems
    vivawell.co.nz – perfect, no problems

    madefromscratch.co.nz

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

This cropped up when accessing most of the admin area (including posts), so I searched forums and downloaded the “force-upgrade.php” from here

That gave me most of the functionality back but I still can’t access the widgets page (it’s not under Appearance), I also can’t install plugins (but I can view them, and upload them through FTP).

Something’s gone wrong somewhere and I’m at a loss..

Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Ben

I have solved my own problem!

I found the plugin Advanced Access Manager and downloaded it to see if I could find out what roles I currently have as the administrator.

I found a page of Roles and Responsibilities and just started adding them.

    I added install_plugins and edit_theme_options – and it worked!

Very happy with myself. I hope this helps someone else!
