I have not had problems clicking on update now to upgrade wordpress before but when I try to upgrade to 3.5 now I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in /home/mysite/public_html/mysite/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128

I have not edited this file.

    Has anyone seen this?

I have upgraded plenty of times before my the same process and not played with any core files. How could this have happened?

There have been over 2 million downloads of WordPress 3.5 so far, so it’s not surprising that, occasionally, one of those downloads is damaged or otherwise corrupted.

This has got serious. Now when I try and login to my site via wp-admin as normal I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in /home/seangan/public_html/reducekeystrokes/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128
    https://reducekeystrokes.com/wp-admin/

Why has this happened to me?

This is exactly the same error has you had originally. Have you re-uploaded from a fresh download yet?

Previously I got the error when I logged in via wp-admin and clicked on upgrade. I did not realise that doing this had killed my access.

I have done nothing other than being in a state of shock that wordpress do this and are not bothered if they kill someone’s site.

WordPress has done nothing wrong. You have 1 or more corrupted files.

For the final time, try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Yikes, thanks, I will go and read up on doing that so.

I just uploaded all files and folders from wordpress-3.5.zip except the wp-content folder. When I try and login again via wp-admin I get the same error – Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128:-)

Do I need to do something else to reset my homepath?

Ok, it seems to be sorted! Renaming the theme/ resetting the plugins temporarily allowed em access. Thanks @esmi. Panic over.
