Template hierarchy does not work on custom theme?

Hello. I have made my own integrated theme (Ztheme), with the templates in ../themes/ztheme – but the ‘index.php’ is moved to the root, because it’s my main page.

The index.php from your theme should not be the index.php in your root (or wordpress root) folder.

Well, I just followed this tutorial:

that tutorial tells you to move the main wordpress index.php to root, not your themes….they are 2 different files.

Yes, well I also used this tutorial to make my theme:

The resulting index file did not load when I kept it in the themes flder, so I put it at the root. Then I copied the code from the index.php located in my wordpress folder, and put that in the now combined index.php at the root.

hehe. Everything works fine (except my templates for specific other stuff like “category.php” and “archive.php” does not work, but instead the index.php loads.)
