• Crazy how on the older version of WordPress, I never had this issue.

I’m working on a blog with lots of pictures in it. I’m putting spaces between lines and paragraphs, just trying to format the blog. Also putting spaces between pictures and the paragraph above and below it.

There are spaces when I’m writing the post. When I hit “Preview” all those spaces are gone and it’s just a wacky format of lines and lines with no spaces. Mind you, it’s not the entire post that’s like this. It’s just parts of it. Then I go back to the edit post page and make sure I have spaces, and they’re definitely there.

What gives? Never had this issue on older version of wordpress.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

The issue is just on preview and not on the actual post when you publish it?

    @ Andrew

I haven’t actually published the post yet. I’m preparing it. Trying to make it as best as possible. There are a lot of pictures and such, so I just need to make sure everything is organized and spaced out and just formatted in a generally nice way.

Would the problem perhaps only be under preview, and not on the actual post if it’s published?

I can’t say if the issue is specific to your preview state and not publish, but was asking for clarification.

Have you tried deactivating all plugins to explore whether any could be responsible? If none are try switching to the default Twenty Thirteen theme still with all plugins deactivated to check if it’s an issue with your theme.

Damn. I’m so terrible with wordpress.

If I switched themes wouldn’t the whole layout of my site change?

I know that if you press shift+enter you get single spaces, right? Is there some kind of secret way to ensure that spaces actually turn out to be…spaces?

Maybe I’ll publish it for a second and see if the issue is still there…

But damn, this is a pain in the butt.

Yeah, I just published it and the issue is still there. For example….

“Bla bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla
    xxxxxxxyyyyyzzzzz”

    when it should be:

“Bla bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla la bla bla bla bla bla

    xxxxxxxyyyyyzzzzz”

    Ugh.

@andrew thanks for giving me feedback.

Could you link to the published page with the issue?

I only privately published it briefly then deleted the post. It’s literally how I showed you above.

When I edit posts in the post editor, I’ll have a space between two paragraphs, or between a line and a paragraph. Just to make it look cleaner.

When I publish the post or preview it, it looks like this instead….

    See what I mean?

Sorry for being a complete moron at explaining this, but I am a total wordpress noob.

It’s just frustrating because this never used to happen before the update, and it’s such a stupid and small issue.

I’m incredibly frustrated and just plain bummed at how difficult this is. I have the exact same problem. My thoughts were that the 3.8 update would fix it, but that isn’t the case. Were you able to figure it out? Of course, I don’t need to point out how important it is that this gets resolved for me, so it’s easy to imagine how important it was/is for you.

Any input you can give would be helpful.

@humblesmug – if you still need help, please provide a link to your site where the problem is visible or screenshots of the problem. As is, it’s not clear what you are describing.

BTW, have you tried deactivating ALL plugins and switching to a default theme? That would be standard troubleshooting.

Okay, I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. Whenever I’m editing a draft spaces appear between each paragraph. When I preview it, the text is a solid block, with no spaces between paragraphs. I don’t know how to resolve this,

I did backup my site, turn off all of my plug-ins, and used the default template. This did not solve the problem. I don’t know what else to do
