• Hi

I’ve just tried upgrading WordPress 3.8 onto 2 blogs. Both times, when I try to expand or collapse a menu on a post or a page (in the back-end as ‘admin’), it just doesn’t respond. They seem to work intermittently i.e. they’ve worked once or twice, but then stop working for no apparent reason. 99% of the times I’ve tried, they just don’t respond at all though.

I’ve just tried it on a fresh install on a brand new domain – so no plugins, and using the default theme. I get the same thing – so that’s three blogs on two different domains that are replicating this fault.

This is what happened with the fresh install: I open the ‘hello world’ post and type a few test paragraphs. I then click on the collapsible menus to the right (publish, format, categories etc). They work, great! I press ‘update’. Now they don’t respond at all. Can’t collapse any menu. Can’t expand any menu.

    Is this a bug?

    Hoping you can help

  • From what I understand, this isn’t a WordPress issue per se as some people have successfully run WP with mod_pagespeed running. Can you configure Google’s mod_pagespeed?

Interesting that some people are running WP 3.8 with Google’s mod_pagespeed, without problem. I didn’t know that. Indeed, if that is the case then it must mean there’s a setting in there that’s got to be tweaked at my end. Thanks Esmi – that gives me something to go on.

Not necessarily Google’s. Their hosts may be running it.

OK. I’ll see what my web hosts say and will report back if I find anything of use to anyone else who may be experiencing the same problem.
