3.8 Update is Terrible! Two plugins broke!

  • I updated one of my WordPress sites yesterday to 3.8, and I am not happy with what I got. First of all it is butt ugly, and is not setup for easy use, like wordpress has always been. It is clunky and annoying.

    I am also having problems with my theme settings, which I have never had before. When I go into the back office for my theme, to change colors, or settings, the controls are all distorted. I have been using this theme (Flexsqueeze) for years, with no problems.

    I also have two plugins that I need on my sites, and have been using them for a few years, and they are not working properly since I updated this one site.

    Everyone loves WordPress, but this update is a huge disappointment. I have about ten sites, but I won’t update the rest of them, to 3.8.

  • My reply was not a rant. It was a constructive suggestion for a (partial) solution to an issue that was, indeed part of the original post (admin interface is now clunky and hard to use), as was the comment about a plugin that restores the dividing lines.

    If it is only acceptable to post in these forums about something that is specifically broken, then the title of this area probably needs to be changed to “something is broken” instead of support and feedback.

    Feedback: “information about reactions to a product, a person’s performance of a task, etc., used as a basis for improvement.”

    I’m closing this topic because clearly I cannot force it back onto the rails. Which makes me sad. The forums are the support forums – EVEN IF someone posts in the req/feedback section, our primary goal HERE is to help you with problems that we can solve .

    @glenn6599 – If you’re still having problems with those plugins, PLEASE make a new topic and let us know. We really do want to know about these and get them working again.

    Everyone else. Not liking the new backend is totally understandable. We had much the same reaction when 2.5 came out. Unlike then, however, we DO have ways for you to change the style easily!

    Both are written by core developers who worked on the new design, so you know the code is good ??
