• With the 3.9 update, my Visual Editor toolbar is missing the dropdown box where I could select text size (i.e., when I type in VE, there is no way to change the text size).

Is there a plug-in for this? Really cannot be going into Text Editor and coding in font size for every page and post.

    Anyone?

  • Hey i am also facing same issue, anyone here who can solve it..

Hey download TinyMCE plugin, your problem will be solved…

With the 3.9 update, my Visual Editor toolbar is missing the dropdown box where I could select text size… Now text editing is as easy if you give somebody charcoal to write on a paper, you can’t control formatting. Installing a plug in just for this seems pointless. Also text keeps reverting to its own font somehow so then I have to select it again and change to previous. Buggy buggy buggy

The difference between a bug and a change is that a bug is an accident and a change is documented.

This is to say, it’s not WP, it’s TinyMCE 4 that removed those features from the editor, or rather changed HOW it worked.

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20183796/tinymce-4-how-change-font-size-styles

So … You’ll need a plugin to enable that feature for you, since it’s not standard by them anymore.

https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tinymce-advanced/ is 3.9 updated and MAY have that feature.

Thank you very much for swift reply Mika, very helpful. As a novice when I started using WP two weeks ago it font size option seemed well integrated and natural option. It is basic for any editor. Why font families without sizes? That is why a thought that it must be bug. Why would any sane person remove this option out of so many others? A plug in just to return back font size? And they boast about so many improvements. Thanks again for your help.

ps. on wordpress.com there is no font family in editor, at least that is consistency. It has all other tools like indent, text colour, etc just omitting the most important one.

WordPress.com is running www.ads-software.com ?? So yeah, that’s what I mean about how the change was in TinyMCE 4.

It is basic for any editor. Why font families without sizes? That is why a thought that it must be bug

Because in-line changes aren’t really the way you’re supposed to change fonds. If the middle of your sentence changes fonts, I kinda hate you ?? If you want headers and all to be different fonts, that’s something you should set for the WHOLE site, not post to post. Also doing it that way makes sure when you upgrade or change a theme, that doesn’t make your old choices stand out and look … weird.

Well what happen is that when I paste something in Wp editor it changes font sizes. That might have to do with that plugin you mention and now it is not. Then when I try to equalise that it never does it properly and changes font family too. But what would it cost to have that button for some of us who are less adapt even if we change font sizes mid sentence, maybe I have different ideas no need to hate me ‘init’?
Well I’ll do what I have to do in the end but what a bother really. Thanks for helping me.

TinyMCE does it… should be default in WP editor

The latest TinyMCE Advanced requires you to go into settings and add the options for Font Family and Font Size, plus other editing functions that are not on the menu by default.

I had the issue of not finding the font size and after going to the settings found it can be added. Problem solved ??

Thanks so much for these comments – new to this and was totally baffled when my font sizes etc disappeared TinyMCE does this trick thank-you!
