Just a quick question, to make sure I have understood how this works (or not).

If I set Contingency for 3D Secure = 3D secured when required, what happens is someone from outside EU, or whose card processor does not require SCA, makes a payment? Will they be able to pay, or rejected?

I’m asking because since I’ve switched to Woocommerce and set the above settings, sales dropped a lot. I wonder now if legit customers are rejected or not.

    Thank you.

    Hello @wattaman

The “when required” setting is dependent on the bank of the cardholder. This means that if a bank requires 3D Secure authentication (as is mandatory in all PSD2 compliant countries), the 3D Secure process will be triggered for transactions with those cards.

However, in cases where the cardholder’s bank does not support 3D Secure, or if the card is issued from outside the EU where such requirements might not be mandatory, the 3D Secure process will not trigger. In these instances, the transaction will proceed as usual without the additional 3D Secure step.

This approach also applies if you choose the “Always trigger 3DS” setting. Essentially, if the card or bank does not support 3D Secure, the payment will still succeed.

It’s important to note that any declined transactions are logged within the plugin. You can enable “Logging” in Connection tab. Additionally, there should be annotations in the order notes on the order page if a transaction fails, including the reasons for the failure.

    Kind regards,
    Krystian
