4.7 update breaks slideshow on Pages

    Hello,

    I recently updated my Jetpack plugin to 4.7. When I did, my Slideshow galleries on Pages broke with the following error:
    Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘split’ of undefined

    The Slideshows still worked on Posts. I reverted back to 4.6 and everything is functioning normally again.

  • I’m experiencing this problem as well, and ended up deactivating the carousel module as a temporary work around.

    Do you both happen to use a plugin to concatenate / minify JavaScript files on your sites, or a plugin that caches the content of the JavaScript files? If so, could you try to flush those plugins’ cache and let me know if it helps?

    If you still experience issues, could you post a link to one of the pages where you experience issues here so I can have a look?

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks! I am not using a minify plugin on this site. Here are two examples. On this Page the gallery breaks: https://www.arboretum.harvard.edu/research/
    On this Post, it remains in tact: https://www.arboretum.harvard.edu/trees-natures-architects/

    I reverted the plugin though. If you let me know when you are testing, I can update the plugin again so that you can see, but I don’t want to leave it like that for too long.

    Could you try to update back to Jetpack 4.7 for a bit, so I can test? Once I’m done testing, you should be able to deactivate the Carousel module under Jetpack > Settings > Appearance in your dashboard, and the problem would disappear.

    Does the problem disappear when picking a specific option?

    I tried both the attachment and media file links, but it is still broken.

    Thanks! You can switch Carousel off now; I’ll see if I can reproduce and fix the problem on my end. I’ll let you know as soon as I have some news for you.

    Could you try to update to Jetpack 4.7.1? It should solve the issue!
