    Hello!

Please, I read under Schema Settings > Knowledge Graph > Logo, that the logo size should be 600x60px.

My logo is a text-based logo and thus based on Google’s guidelines, the visible height should be no more than 48px.

    —–

Please, I need your help with the following questions:

Q1). Should the size of the PNG logo be 600x60px but its visible height is less than 48px? or the logo as a whole should have a height size that is less than 48px? It is very confusing since there is the size of the image as a whole and there is the size of the visible part of the text-based logo.

Q2). Yoast SEO also allows us to define the logo of the website. What should we do if we are using both Schema (your plugin) and Yoast SEO? should we define the same logo in both areas? or should we only define it in one place?

Q3). The Yoast SEO has a special section for organization/website details under its general tab. Should we fill those as well along with the information in your Schema plugin? or filling the same information in both places would flag some conflicts in Google’s eyes?

Q4). Leaving the pages schema type to its default (without defining the article type) is giving an error message on Google structured data testing tool. The error says that the image URL is not defined. I have fixed the problem by defining the article type as “TechArticle”. However, by setting it in such a way, my posts and pages ended up as “TechArticle”. Was that the right action to take? or shall I define it in another way?

Awaiting patiently for your kind reply!

    All the best!

    Hi Kronomia,

A-1) I am not sure about the text-based logos, Google mentioned only a logo image. I will have to revisit this and try to enhance the plugin as I think you can use different image sizes.

I think you can still use the text-based logo you have on your site, but what I recommend is creating an image logo (of your text-based) logo to use it within the plugin settings. It’s required to set an image logo.

A-2) As mentioned in the Schema plugin page, the Schema plugin has support for Yoast SEO, schema plugin won’t output anything if Yoast SEO is active.

But, you still need to set the image logo in Schema settings to be used in other parts of the plugin output.

A-3) Fill same information in both plugins. See answer A-2.

A-4) The image error shows because it’s required to assigned a Featured image for every Article.

The solution is not to change the Schema type (unless you want to use that specific type of cours). I recommend uploading Featured images for Articles.

I hope this answers your questions.

P.S. Thanks for your feedback and rating the plugin ??

    Best.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply!

You have answered all of my questions except for the first one since I think I did not explain it properly.

When I said a text-based logo, I meant a PNG image that has a rectangular shape compared to a square icon shape.

I am going to list two possible scenarios below. One of them should be the right one for sure but i don’t know which one of them. There is a possibility as well that both of them can be right. It is not clear from the Google’s guidelines which one is correct.

Possibility #1: That rectangular shape will have the size of 600x60px based on your plugins recommendations. However, the dimensions of the text inside this image should not cross the height of 48px. In other words, the size of the whole image is 600x60px including the white spaces or padding around the logo.

Possibility #2: The size of the logo image should fit within the rectangular box of 600x60px but should not take the size of 600x60px. In other words, the whole image size of the logo would be smaller than 600x60px where the height is smaller or equal to 48px.

The above two possibilities are not explained well in Google’s guidelines. I don’t know which one is correct. Should the size of the logo be 600x60px? or it should be smaller to fit within the 600x60px rectangle?

If you can help me in understanding this point, I would greatly appreciate it.

    All the best!

P.S: What is the size of the logo image that you are using in your schema settings on your website? is it 600x60px? or smaller?

    >> [Update] <<

I finally found the solution to the above riddle.

    – The size of the logo for the Google’s knowledge graph should be: 151x151px.

    – The size of the logo used in AMP should be as follows:

*Case 1: If the logo is a text-based logo image, the overall size of it should be 600x60px. However, the visible text inside that image should not exceed the height of 48px. In other words, you will have a logo image of size 600x60px while the logo text inside it has the dimensions of 600x48px. Thus, the 600x60px is the overall size including the white spaces or padding.

*Case 2: If the logo is not a text-based image, then the overall image size should be 600x60px.

The remaining questions are as follows:

    1. In your Schema plugin, is the provided field for the AMP logo or for the knowledge graph logo? as far as I can see, it is for the AMP logo since the knowledge graph logo might be taken directly from your Google’s plus profile. I am not entirely sure though.

    2. The provided field for the logo in the Yoast SEO plugin, is it for the AMP logo or for the knowledge graph logo? (No documentation by Yoast is provided on this part).

Note: It would be great if you can add the above findings to your documentation. They will help others in understanding those vague outlines of Google.

As always, thanks a lot for everything!

    Hi Kronomia,

Thanks for the details, very useful!

I’ve been investigating this and made a few changes to the plugin to be part of next update 1.5.9.3, which I think will solve this issue, here is what I’ve done:

1- The Organization logo should be used only for the Knowledge Graph, here is Google’s Organization logo guide, info is limited on this page though.

2- Added a new settings field for Publisher Logo, which should fit in a 60x600px rectangle, here is Google’s Publisher logo guide.

P.S. As far as I know, the provided logo in Yoast SEO is for the Organization’s Knowledge Graph logo.
