4.0 never appeared

    I have a page at WordPress.com, I have a localhost WordPress install I use for testing, and I have a webpage with its own domain hosted by GoDaddy. The localhost and WordPress.com (obviously) sites both received the 4.0 update, but the one on GoDaddy never did. There’s no message telling me it’s available, no options in the update menu, no nothing. The update screen just tells me my plugins and themes are up to date.

    I’d rather just stick to 3.9.2 than update manually, but I’m wondering if someone might have an idea why when everyone else on earth got the update, I didn’t?

    GoDaddy was pretty clueless about it all, by the way.

  • The updater in WordPress only checks every 12 hours for a new release, as far as I know. Maybe your GoDaddy site just hasn’t hit that point yet?

    You should be able to go to:

    https://example.com/wp-admin/update-core.php?force-check=1

    (replace example.com with your domain)

    to force a check for the update though.

    Sadly the link didn’t work, it just took me back to my update page that told me my themes and plugins are up to date.

    Hopefully you’re correct about the timing, though, I’ll hold out some hope for that.

    Is this site on GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress plan?

    Just spoke with a contact there, they said those sites will update in the next 24 hours.

    It is a managed WordPress plan actually, yes. So based on your information I’ll just wait until tomorrow and see what happens, updating this thread as appropriate. Many thanks for your input.

    Hey FlickWho, it’s Mendel from GoDaddy. Shawn has it right. Our Managed WordPress hosting plans are being updated even as we type, and the update will automagically hit your account within the next 24hrs (but probably less). All new accounts since this morning have been on 4.0, btw. Let me know if you have any questions.
