401 Authorization error in Firefox

  • When I enter in my username and password to log-in to the WordPress admin Firefox gives me the following error:

    Authorization Required

    This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.

    It works fine in Chrome. I’ve emptied out my cache and cleared saved passwords, but that didn’t help. I’ve also tried changing the username and password as well as re-uploading the wp-admin folder, but still no luck.

    Has anyone else experienced this? The site is hosted on MediaTemple but they told me it’s an issue with WordPress and not the server setup.

  • Did you ever resolve this issue? I seem to be having the same problem as well. But I’m also on Mediatemple which is quite fishy..
