    Hello,
I’m trying to use GDE on a website that is in a secured directory. In order for the individual to view the site, they have to provide login credentials. However, GDE doesn’t recognize that the document is in the same secure directory as the website and gives this error.
“GDE Error: Error retrieving file – if necessary turn off error checking (401:Authorization Required)”. I would like to keep the documents within this directory, yet still display using GDE.

    Any Suggestions?

Google’s viewer is a third party service sitting on a different server to both your website and your end user. Therefore it needs to obtain the document entirely on its own terms – the fact that the user entered a password doesn’t help. Google would need to know the password too (but I don’t think there’s any way to provide that).

If the documents are PDFs (or can be converted to PDFs) you could try my PDF Embedder plugin that doesn’t rely on any third-party service.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Yes, the documents are pdf’s. I’ll try the pdf embedder. Thank you for the information and the suggestion.
