My site has been up and running fine for about a month. Yesterday I did a blog post and now this morning if you try to go to the site you get a 401 and a login box. Here is the site: https://www.jl-design.com

I can’t get into the admin panel either, I get the same message.

Can someone tell me if I have been hacked? I haven’t put in my user name and password because I am afraid it might be a hack.

I am using the Akita theme from themeforest. When I first set it up I had a problem with permalinks giving the 403 but that was fixed.

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to correct this? Or if I indeed did get hacked?

    Thanks!!

I can’t see any obvious signs of a hack atm. Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

*blows you a kiss* Thank you Thank You Thank You!!

The plug-in or theme didn’t work but I over wrote the index and web.config files with fresh ones and that seemed to work.

I spent 4 hours on this today..ugh. Curious does this kinda of stuff happen often? I just started working with WordPress sites and this kinda makes me nervous. I’m just happy it was on my site and not a clients.

    Thanks again!!

File corruption on servers just happens from time to time.
