Should my Incoming Links go to non-existent pages on my server?

    Firstly, apologies if this has been answered already – I have searched for a solution but failed to find one.

    Here’s the problem. On my WP-Admin page, I am now starting to get trackbacks in my Incoming Links box. However, if you click on one of these Incoming links, it goes to a non-existent page on my own server – here is an actual example: https://www.chrisgreen.co.uk/wp-admin/1122305702

    Surely this can’t be right – should a page be created on my server in the wp-admin folder when I receive a trackback, and if so, why is it not happening. Do I need to change the permissions on the wp-admin folder to allow some kind of additional write access?

    If anyone could explain this to me, or shed some light on how my config is incorrectly set-up so I can correct it, I would be most grateful.

  • They shouldn’t. Mine started doing that a couple of days ago, so put it down to a glitch in the technorati feed. It looks like the links are coming in just as <a href="random_number">.

    Are they legitimate trackbacks in other ways or are they complete garbage? Sounds like it could be a spammer or hacker.

    The links are legit. this is the current technorati rss feed my dashboard is parsing, it looks like the <link>1120357970</link> bits are causing the problem.

    The trackbacks are from legitimate sites, not spam. So are we in agreement that it is a fault with Technorati rather than a problem with my WordPress installation?

    Pretty sure – The cosmos rss feed has posted dates as 01/01/1970. I checked out some other feeds at random and they show the same, so it looks like technorati is the cause.

    Bugger – anything (simple) we can do at this end, or are we going to have to wait for Technorati to fix their feed, or WordPress to change their code?

    Still getting Incoming Links arriving in this broken format – anyone got any news on when this might be fixed? It’s really frustrating!

    I just noticed this today, as well. It’s strange, in that it will retrieve the actual text from a trackback, for example, but the provided link like mentioned above, goes to a non-existent page on my own site.
    I did just install Spam Karma a few weeks ago, but I don’t this has anything to do with it?
    Strange.
