Hi, if you go to Tools > Site Health, do you see any errors or warnings there relating to the REST API or similar?

    Hi
Those are the only warnings I saw

    Thanks, much appreciate it!

That shouldn’t have any impact on the String Locator plugins functionality, very peculiar, do you have any plugins that interact with, or disable, the WordPress REST API perhaps? (Maybe something like a security plugin for example)

    Hi
This time I made a few more tests.
First of all I disabled all installed plugins. The new version of plugin returns the same error message https://prnt.sc/AZ-l6ZXdm5d_
So I am pretty sure that it has to do with my server’s settings.
I checked my access log and this is the message https://prnt.sc/0es4LE8gJZXf I see.
Does it make any sense to you?

Hmm, no that unfortunately doesn’t tell me much more. Are you also using WordPress version 5.9, or are you on an older version than that?

i have the same error in my page using string locator, i’m using WP 5.9

Same error here – hoping for a fix. Unfortunately this wonderful plugin is unusable to me since latest update.

Same here, WordPress v5.9.3. error log is empty.

The above error was returned by your server, for more details please consult your servers error logs.

Fixed it. Removed define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true); from wp-config.php.

Because this site is configured to not allow direct file editing, the String Locator plugin has limited functionality and will only allow you to search for files with your string in them.

Seems you can’t search or edit now if this is TRUE. I only wanted the search-side as I always edit via FTP.
