• Not a good day.

Earlier, I tried to change my permalink settings through the appropriate tag. On saving the new settings, I have lost all access to my blog, including the admin. Can I revert this through FTP?

    Thanks,

    HH

PS: If I delete .htaccess, I regain access to the site. Bus as soon as try to set the permalink settings back to default, I lose access and a new .htaccess is created.

So, I solved this by choosing a backup of data from the host server and then reconstructing what I had done in between (2 hours of work). Which means I am now back on default settings. I don’t think I can log it as solved.

I am happy to be back to normal functionality, but I would still like to change the permalink settings from default without losing access to my blog, as post number is hardly the most attractive option for viewers.

Does anyone know how I can change permalink settings without losing my blog?

(I am also slightly concerned that I might communicate badly – I get next to no replies on this forum – am I doing something wrong?).

    HH
