403 Forbidden Error for /wp-json/wp/v2 and 503 Erros with Rankmath

  • Hi. I am facing issues related to JSON i.e 403 erros with /wp-json/wp/v2. This error shows up when editing the posts. Also, there are problems with the Rankmath plugin. The Rankmath plugin gives 503 errors. Also, a 503 error is given in the provided image. Due to these errors, it takes too long to update the posts. Sometimes the changes made in posts are not saved. Kindly help. The screenshot is given here Image 1 and Image 2. I have sent you the report via Email.

    Hi @mj00712,? Thank you for reaching out.

    Did you follow the tutorial here? https://rankmath.com/kb/whitelist-rank-math-in-wordfence/ 

    I would suggest changing the Wordfence Web Application Firewall into Learning Mode. From the Wordfence Dashboard, click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now confirm that you can use the Rank Math Plugin without any issues. Once done, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting and test to see that you can still use the plugin without any issues.

    If Learning Mode doesn’t solve the issue, please attempt the blocked actions with Wordfence activated and navigate to your Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic page, and see whether you find any blocked requests, click on it to expand it, then click “Add Param to Allowlist”.

    Just to let you know, the admin area appears to be broken, and this error is displayed in the console. If I disable the Wordfence plugin, the error goes away. Additionally, the Jetpack stats are not working. Only the URL with /wp-admin breaks the admin area. I have sent you a new report by Email.

    Hi @mj00712,

    Please toggle the Expand All Results option at the top right and send us screenshots of the blocked RankMath requests.

    For the admin area issue, it sounds like a conflict with your theme or another plugin. I’d suggest disabling all other plugins except for Wordfence, then trying again to see if there’s a plugin or theme conflict causing the issue. You could also revert to a default theme, such as Twenty Twenty-Three.

    If it works as expected, then reenable your plugins and theme one by one until the issue recurs to help find the cause.
