Hi I am having trouble with sharing on facebook, I get 403 error, I did facebook sharing debugger and got the message that the reason might because of robots.txt. The robots.txt has been now updated but the 403 forbidden error is still. I did install blog2social and after that the website became very slow, not my website, it is website of my work. I did remove blog2social and my college did update the server. almost 12 hours after I installed the blog2social the forbidden error started. Buty I allready have tried to reinstall the blog2social and it did not work, the.htaccess file is ok and working same as the develope environment. I dont get the 403 when sharing from develope page. and the pages are almost identical. I also installed blog2social into the develope page and still no problem there. Is there a way to fix it? There seem to be no restrictions on facebook and they told me to get support from wordpress team

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

May I ask if it’s possible for you to send me a screenshot of where you are encountering this error?
It would also be great if you could attach a link to your post on Facebook so I can take a closer look.

I’m looking forward to your reply.

Hi, here are some screenshots, some are from Facebook and some are from Meta Bussiness Suit and the others are from Facebook Sharing Debugger, the link I am using is from a news article https://utvarpsaga.is/frumvarp-til-laga-um-loftslagsmal-sett-i-samradsgatt/ and is from the news page útvarp Saga and a link to the index is https://utvarpsaga.is/ and a link to facebook page útvarp Saga is https://www.facebook.com/utvarpsaga and there we have had to insert a link and upload an image manually, all the articles from the website are behaving the same.

Before the 403 error came up, we just had to share a link and then the image came automatically, and further back It used to be enough to write a post on wordpress and click on publish, and then the article automatically went to the news agency’s facebook page. Then this feature dropped and then I started looking for plugins in wordpress that could autopost to facebook. I downloaded blog2social and a window appeared where I was sked to agree if the following third party could have access to the photos and I didn’t want to approve without talking to my boss and chose to decline if I remember correctly. But then the site got slow after that and it turned out that one of the several reasons was there were plugin conflicts. I was still able to post and share on facebook without a 403 error though. But now I have restored plugins as they looked like before I this happened and it did not work.
Thank you very much for wanting to get into the matter for me and I hope that it will be possible to find a solution to the problem.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

There can be various reasons for issues like this. Facebook and any other social media network will always display the information it fetches from the source code of your link since Blog2Social just sends your link towards them.
For example, if it takes too long fetching the information, if there are multiple open graph tags or if your website is not available, this could cause issues. These guides show you:
What are open graph tags and what do I use them for?
Troubleshooting: Checklist and solutions for setting Open Graph Tags

As far as I can see you’re also receiving the 403 forbidden error when sharing on Facebook directly. Please be aware that this is not caused by Blog2Social and outside of our sphere of influence.
Therefore, please make sure that you’re using only one plugin for setting your metadata, that your security plugins are not set too strict and that your website is available so Facebook can fetch your data properly.

Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding Blog2Social.
