403 Forbidden (spinning icon)

    All websites are getting the following issue:

    GEThttps://www.motorental.ie/wp-json/contact-form-7/v1/contact-forms/12277/refill?_locale=user
    [HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden 956ms]

    GEThttps://www.motorental.ie/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=rest-nonce
    [HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request 483ms]

    This has happened since the most recent update. We have disabled all plugins and gone through enabling each, one by one. This issue occurs once WooCommerce is enabled with CF7.

    Disable WooCommerce and error is gone and forms submit, WooCommerce enabled forms wont send and spinner just hangs.

    I see a lot of people reporting similar issues but with different plugins such as “Cache” related plugins.

    Any update yet on what’s going on? Currently issue is reported on 30 of our sites.

    Hey Takayuki,
    Here is an export of the plugin list. This is certainly something that has happened in the latest version of the plugin release. This morning we reverted all the sites back to an older version (v5.3) of the plugin from backups and everything is working correctly.

    Just to say these are all running the latest plugin releases apart from CF7 which is now running v5.3 in order to make things operational again.

    Just to say when you view the URL attached to the original post you will now see no errors appearing. This would be because we downgraded CF7 to v5.3.

    Which one is the theme?

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, Classic Editor, Listo, Wordfence Security, WordPress Importer and Yoast SEO, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    I can confirm the issue. I have the same errors when caching is enabled (using “Hyper Cache”). After clearing the cache and disabling caching, the form is working again. I’ve been using this setup successfully for years and there has been no update to Hyper Cache for a long time, so it’s very likely a bug in CF7…

    I will need to get some time to do this and setup staging environment as we can’t do that on the live site.

    if you roll back to v5.3 of the CF7 plugin as a stop gap, this has worked for me temporarily. Not ideal, but at least contact forms will be operational and clients/or yourself wont miss any contacts.
