• Getting the 403 Forbidden error when trying to update plugins. I whitelisted the action and tried again but got the same warning. Then disabled the firewall and tried again with the same result. Learning mode did not help either.

Any suggestions other than disabling the entire plugin?

    I’m running Wordfence 6.2.8 on a multi-site implementation.

    Thank you ….. Rick

Update – selecting the plugins individually from the plugins page to update worked in both learning mode and with the firewall enabled. I was using the update core function before unsuccessfully.

    Hi rbarron,
I’m sorry but I’m a little bit confused about which way you are using to update the plugins that results in this “403 Forbidden page”? I mean from (WordPress Dashboard > Updates) or (WordPress Dashboard > Plugins)?
Also sharing a screenshot showing this “403 Forbidden page” would be helpful.

    Thanks.

Will send details when a new update is available.

I can confirm this behavior and perhaps add some detail. Running WordPress 4.7 on all sites. I admin a system that comprises 3 MU installations and 3 Stand-alone installations.
Updating from the “UPDATES” page, not from the “Plugins” page.
Problem occurs on STAND-ALONE installations bulk updating from “UPDATES” page.
Bulk update of 4 plugins, 2 plugins.
Updating individual plugins from “Plugin” page works fine.
403 error on bulk plugin update

MU installations bulk update just fine for entire installation and from individual sites. This is the opposite of the problem I would expect. ??
