    Hi,

When I enter a comment, looks like it cannot create it and displays this in the comments section:

    403 – Forbidden Error
You are not allowed to access this address.
If the error persists, please contact the website webmaster.

I do not see any error in the error log, but if I go into the latest visits I see this:

    /wp-comments-post.php?for=jetpack
Http Code: 403 Date: May 19 09:43:42 Http Version: HTTP/1.0 Size in Bytes: 1878
    Referer: https://jetpack.wordpress.com/jetpack-comment/
    Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0

Any idea on what’s going wrong?

    Regards,
    Domingo

  • Hi @domvallsgmailcom,

While en-dependencia.com is publicly accessible, we cannot access your site’s XML-RPC file:

    https://en-dependencia.com/xmlrpc.php

You can see a working example here:

    https://jetpack.com/xmlrpc.php

Since your site returns a 403 – Forbidden error for this page, I recommend you check the following:

    1. Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them? You might also want to check your site’s .htaccess file for any rules that might be blocking access to the xmlrpc.php file.
    2. Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend you get in touch with your host.

Once we can access your site’s xmlrpc.php file, you should be able to connect Jetpack to WordPress.com and those comments will work again.

    Thx a lot, Gemma,

I have fixed .htaccess that was blocking xmlrpc and it now works.

Now, when I submit a comment, I get to a new full web page response, which also gets a 403. URL is https://en-dependencia.com/wp-comments-post.php.

I keep finding no errors in the cpanel error log.

I have to say that in the mean time I’ve been goofing with the Jetpack configuration since I noticed that the domain had got wrong in wordpress.com, bit it looks good to me right now.

I’ve checked up Wordfence firewall and I cannot find any block there.

So, I’d appreciate any further idea.

    Regards,
    Domingo

Thanks for fixing that. I’m seeing a good connection to Jetpack now.

Does the error that you’re seeing still reference Jetpack?

At this point, I’d like to run some more tests with you on your site to try to figure out what’s happening.

Would you please contact us through our contact form and mention this thread? We’ll be on the lookout for your message.

    Thanks!
