404 Detection from my own IP address

    I have been using this plug-in for a more than a week, without problems, until today.

    When reviewing the 404 Detection logs in the Firewall settings page, I am seeing repeated attempts to access mydomain.com/apple-touch-icon.png and mydomain.com/apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png, from my own IP address. As far as I can see, these files don’t exist.

    I have been unable to identify any apps that might be running on my MacBook Pro; have restarted the computer; and performed an adware scan, none of which have solved the problem. Currently, the 404 log indicates that the attempt reoccurs every 3-5 minutes.

    Even more confusing for me is the fact that when I activate a VPN service (Cloak) on my computer, the IP addresses listed in the log all change to a new, but consistent, IP.

    Can anyone explain what’s happening and suggest a solution?

    Update:

    I changed my wp admin password and brute force slug, forced a user logout, and the attempts at connecting to the URLs referenced in my previous post have stopped. I don’t know whether my actions were effective, or if it’s just coincidence.

    Now, however, when I login and go to the the Logged In Users page, it indicates that there are 4 users logged in – all have my user name and IP address. I have tried logging out, reseting cookies and history in my browser (Safari) and restarting it, but the issue persists.

    There are no Failed Login Records, and the Account Activity Logs list only my user name and IP.

    Do you have other browsers open where you are logged in?

    No, all browsers closed and computer restarted.

    @gc916 have you tried to deactivate and reactivate the plugin? Also have a read through this thread. Someone had something similar to your issue which might help you.

    The problem was somehow resolved late yesterday, with no further action on my part.

    I logged in, went to the AIO WPS plugin, and there was only one entry for me as a logged in user. There have also been no further 404 entries from my IP.

    I can’t explain what happened. I’d appreciate any ideas you or others may have.

    Hi @gc916 that is good news :). If your problem is resolved can you mark this support thread as resolved.

    In regards to your question. There are a few possibilities why it is working now. 1) It could be that the server you are hosted have cleared the cache and the IP address has settle down. 2) Your ISP provider have done something on their end. 3) Somehow your network connection from home have refreshed the cache. There are other possibilities I am sure which I can’t think of now.
