• Hi,
I installed WordPress using the one-click method given on Ovh- a hosting website. I don’t know why but the website was installed in the admin folder. If you go the homepage of this site you will have to click on a folder to access the main site. In order to fix this issue people have given me two options
    1) I was asked to reinstall the website manually using ftp and to install the files directly in the www folder- when I did that the website started showing 404 error

    2) I was also asked to change the path in the root directory from www to www/admin
This resulted in the same 404 error.

At this moment I moved back the admin folder in the www folder so that it doesn’t show 404 error. Can anyone please help me with this.
I will be extremely grateful for your help.

    Thank you

  • I’d probably just reinstall everything into the webroot folder and go from there.

That admin folder worries me though… I’m a little worried about that clobbering the WordPress admin functions.

Your best bet would be to call hosting support at your webhost and ask them for help.

    Hi JNASh,

Thank you for replying. I have tried doing that -reinstalling everything in the root folder but it has not worked. When I do that I receive a 404 error.

I have also contacted the hosting company but so far they have not responded and given their poor customer support I don’t think they would respond in a timely manner. Hence, I am here looking for a solution.
