• I can’t access my admin area. When I log in, I get this error:

    Not Found, Error 404
The page you are looking for no longer exists. Perhaps you can find what you are looking for by searching the site archives by page, month, or category:

My URL is https://www.CantStopRockin.com. I’ve read through lots of suggestions and nothing seems to fix it. Any suggestions?

  • Have you tried https://www.cantstoprockin.com/wp-login.php to get in?

Also, please don’t post multiple requests. People will shout at you.

Yes, I tried that. I get the 404 error. I called BlueHost and they said it looked like I had a file missing so I replced all the admin files with my back up and that didn’t fix it either.

I’m not sure which multiple requests you are talking about. I did post a 500 internal server error, but BlueHost fixed that and then the 404 error showed up. I guess I should mark that one resolved. Sorry, I’ve not used the forums before.

    Any other ideas?

So, when you enter name/password and click on log in, you get a 404 error?

yes, after entering my name and password I get the 404 error

After logging in and getting the 404 error can you try accessing one of the admin pages, such as https://www.cantstoprockin.com/wp-admin/edit.php

If you get into the admin through that page, you can try accessing different parts to see what is available and what isn’t.

A friend was having a similar problem but in her instance it was a problem with the webhost.

That doesn’t work either. I still get the 404 error. I called BlueHost and they said it looked like I had a file missing. I asked which one and they couldn’t be sure because I have a custom theme. I reloaded the admin files with my back up and still nothing.

What did you do before the error? Did you add something or change something? Move to a new server? Change your .htaccess file?

A call to an undefined function means a missing file. Some of your site works (RSS feed) for example and some doesn’t (registration). The parts that seem to work are in your root directory.

You need to download a new copy of 2.5.1 and use that to replace your files not a backup version of your site. You should be able to bring up the directories/files from your site in one screen and have the files from the new copy of 2.5.1 in another and compare. Careful not to over write your theme files and your wp-config.

BTW, your site has quite a few errors. After you fix the current problem you can attact the errors starting at https://validator.w3.org/.

Did this happen when migrating or upgrading your site? I don’t know of any reason for it to just… happen, but if it was migrating or upgrading, there are a few possibilities I am aware of. To avoid having to do a lot of workarounds, if you are able to upgrade as it currently is, that might save you some time and put your database back in order again to go ahead and run an upgrade.

Well, it is fixed. BlueHost fixed it for me. File access permission errors….. This all started when I could not upload images after doing an upgrade to 2.6.3, which completely interferred with my theme & one of my plugins, so I had it restored back to version 2.5.1. I could no longer upload images so I was reading about the problem here in the forum and I changed the access permissions on some of the files as suggested. Then I couldn’t log in to admin. Well, I can now log in but still can’t upload images.

Thank you “kmessinger” for the link to the error program. I ran it and have no idea how to fix any of them. I’m taking a class in January, so hopefully I’ll be able to understand more of these issues after that.

Thank you for all your help.
