• Ron,

I’ve been noticing that there are a lot of 404 errors in my logs for the file ?/themes?/frontier?/includes?/genericons?/Genericons.eot? — it appears to occur almost every time a user visits my site. I checked the folder tree and the genericons.eot file is there (in fact, the other day I replaced all the theme files with fresh copies).

Do you have any idea what might be causing that to return a 404 and how I might fix it?

    Thanks!

I noticed your wp-content files are located in /contentfiles/ instead of /wp-content/ maybe that has something to do with it. Are the 404s pointing to /wp-content/ or /contentfiles/?

Though when I visit your site the icons are showing just fine so it’s obviously working. Did you rename the folder recently? Maybe those 404 visitors are bots looking for the old path.

The 404s are pointing to contentfiles/themes/, which is the correct directory. (I don’t think there would be bots searching for the old path, since I renamed the folder when I first set up WordPress more than three years ago.) The path is correct and when I look at the files via the shell or FTP, the applicable file and folder seem to be there okay. Yet, I get dozens of the 404 errors a day, one just 10 minutes ago. It’s very peculiar.
