    404 Error>> looking for a .HTM file – not a page

I created a new Contact page – there was no ‘old’ contact page – I then added it to the NavBar thru Thesis> Site Options> Pages and got this error:

    https://www.robbinsmgt.com

    QUOTE]
The requested URL /contact.htm/ was not found on this server.[/QUOTE]

I noted it is looking for an .HTM file ?? Why?

I went back, created a new ‘Contact’ page – published it and saw that it had the digit 2 appended to the name – so I went back and moved both Contact pages to the trash and deleted permanently.

Recreated a Contact page and added it to the NavBar – same old 404 Error – and it is looking for a .htm file… why?

I am using the Thesis theme with WP Navigation selected and configured. I have asked for help there on their forums but it comes down to what we believe to be a WP issue – if not operator error.

I have refreshed my browser each time.
I have checked in both FF and IE.
I permanently deleted the “Contact” page and recreated it. Same issue.
I created a “Contact Us” page as a workaround and that works fine. I then created a “Services” page and that now returns the error looking for services.htm.

    Permalinks selected Postname >> https://robbinsmgt.com/sample-post/

I tried /%postname%/ in the custom but it just selects Postname.

I tried deleting the /%postname%/ from Custom and selecting postname – it fills it right back in.

I cleaned up the database thru myPHPadmin and removed the references to Xervice – still no luck.

I tried a direct link in the browser address bar (I removed the trailing forward /) and it took me to a site built on HTML???

THEN I started looking further up the directory tree and found the client had originally designed a site in HTML and then went to WordPress.

Now I know why I have been given this headache! But I deleted the original HTML files and it all works now.
