404 Error on Login for 2 Sites within Multisite

    I have a weird issue going on. I have two sites within a multisite install that give me a 404 Error if I try to log into them. First is https://jaygoodrich.com/photographystore/wp-login and the second is
    https://jaygoodrich.com/proposal/wp-login

    I can log into my main site and all the live versions of the sites seem to be working but I cannot get into those two.

    In addition, if I try to access the admin areas of these two sites I get a page that looks like WP has dropped the CSS to it.

    I do not have any redirects running.

  • I have one site on one of my multi-sites that totally disappears.

    Something happens to the database for it…

    After it happened the fourth time I made the decision to just remove all the tasks and move it to another server ‘just in case’. Thankfully mine wasn’t a public site, It was an offline task accumulator for another website so I’ve been slowly moving the tasks around.

    I’m kind of wondering if something like that might have happened to your two sites. So, take a look at your database by running ‘check’ on it from PHPMyAdmin and run ‘repair’ if you find any faults there.

    Anyway, I think what happens in my case is a failed write or something on an overloaded multi-site…

    The two solutions I first came up with was to engage a faster server for the database or start running hyperdb and replication with failback. Since the budget said ‘no’ to those solutions… moving was my only option.

    I ran a check on the DB and it was fine. What is weird is that I haven’t done anything to the site since Monday, but this issue appeared today.

    I figured this out! I read this page: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Login_Trouble

    and replaced the wp-login.php file with a brand new version. Everything seems to be back to normal.
