• Hi,

My website sends an unexplained get request for a non existing .jpg file path which results in a 404 error. This error creates a delay in the website response time which I’d like to resolve. As far as I understand the request origin is made by Elementor.
I’d appreciate your advice how to remove this problematic request.

    Thanks!

  • Hi, such an error can appear due to varied reasons, hopefully this is just some old CSS remnants that produce the error.

Please try these methods and tell us if they helped:
Regenerate the CSS via Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS on your WordPress Dashboard.
Go to Elementor > Settings on your WordPress dashboard.

Click the Advanced tab and then switch the CSS print method to Internal embedding.

Clear all cache: your browser’s cache, other plugins’ cache, server cache (if possible).

To rule out the possibility of a plugin or theme conflict, try out our safe mode feature to see if it eliminates the error.

“Safe Mode” is a safe environment that isolates Elementor and WordPress from all themes and plugins, it helps multiple users solve issues like this.

Read about the feature here: https://elementor.com/help/what-is-safe-mode/

Switch the CSS print method back after following these steps, regardless if it helped or not.

Hope those steps help you out.

Hi, Thanks for your quick response.

Regenerate the CSS via Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS on your WordPress Dashboard.
Go to Elementor > Settings on your WordPress dashboard.

Done – didn’t solve this issue

Click the Advanced tab and then switch the CSS print method to Internal embedding.

The CSS Print Method was set to ‘Internal Embedding’ already [prior to your advise]

Clear all cache: your browser’s cache, other plugins’ cache, server cache (if possible).

    – browser’s cache – done
    – other plugins’ cache – don’t know of other plugins I use which has this option
    – server cache – done

These actions also didn’t solve this issue

To rule out the possibility of a plugin or theme conflict, try out our safe mode feature to see if it eliminates the error.

I tried safe mode but couldn’t view this issue on the editor

I’d be grateful for additional advice
    Thanks!

Hey, I’d like to start with the “CSS print method” setting, I believe my initial response was a bit unclear.

My intent was to simply switch the method, using this setting is essentially a more powerful form of Regenerate CSS as it creates a brand new file when switched.

If switching it once and twice doesn’t help at all, We’ll need to look for other causes for the issue. (Internal > External, then External > Internal)
(By the Way, the External file setting is preferable since it loads the site a bit faster)

Safe mode is a fast method to disable all of the 3rd party plugins and the Theme apart from Elementor, but I can’t say for certain if you can see the Image 404 error through the Editor at all.

When the Safe mode is active, you should also see your live site in safe, lacking in Elements provided by the Theme/ other plugins, using the Preview should also work.

If it helps, Give a backup to your site and simply deactivate your plugins one by one and check whether the error goes away. If deactivating plugins doesn’t help, switch to a default WP theme like 2021 / our Hello theme.

    Hope this response helps.

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for your answer and for the detailed explanation.

If switching it once and twice doesn’t help at all, We’ll need to look for other causes for the issue. (Internal > External, then External > Internal)

I’ve tried regenerating the CSS and switching ‘CSS print method’ back & forth as you suggested but it had no effect on the problem.

I’ve used the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to switch to the default theme (Twenty Twenty) and to disable all plugins accept for Elementor (and Health Check & Troubleshooting ?? ). It shows that the problem occurs in this configuration. When Elementor is deactivated and other plugins are activated the problem doesn’t occur.

I’d be grateful for additional advice
    Thanks!
