• I’m trying to install WordPress in the root directory of the above domain. I did a manual install of the latest WP using Cyberduck, created a new database in MySQL on cPanel and added a new user with all permissions. I edited wp-config-sample.php with my database information and resaved it as wp-config.php. Then when I go to my site to complete the install, I get this:

    404
    Not Found
The resource requested could not be found on this server!

    I have tried:
–> restoring the sample config file, to see if the WordPress installer prompts me for the database info – didn’t work.
–> changing the DB host in the config file to “localhost” and “localhost:3306”, which is the name listed in myphpadmin – neither work.
–> creating a .htaccess file (this did not exist in the WP files I unzipped). I’ve tried this both with and without “.” before it.

The WP files are located in the root directory, so I don’t think it’s a subdomain issue. The files are visible in my cPanel file directory, so they’re clearly uploaded to the site, but I can’t seem to get to the install screen!

As a total beginner determined to do a manual install, I would appreciate any help!

    Hi there!

Have you tried contacting your host about that? It could be a configuration setting on their end.

Thanks Jose, I’ve got a help ticket in with them. We’ll see if the issue is on their end…

It seems a host related issue… I agree with the first comment above… did you check your DNS configuration since you’re talking about subdomain it might be not mapped to your current domain.
